Gabrielle N. Pfund, PhD
Gabrielle Pfund (she/her) is the PI of the Purpose Functioning in Daily Life (PFiDL) lab as well as an Assistant Professor in Human Development & Family Science at Auburn University. Her research focuses on the measurement, development, and implications of sense of purpose in daily life and across the lifespan. Her research values focus on transparency, such as pre-registering her projects and sharing all code; precision, taking the measurement and analytic path that's most accurate even when it's more challenging; and balance, prioritizing well-being of her collaborators and never sacrificing the scientist for the science. In her free time, she loves to read (mostly fiction), spend time with her dog (an old rescued Schnauzer named Benton), and read while spending time with her dog.Â
Olivia Duchow
Olivia (Liv) Duchow (she/they) is a first-year graduate student in Human Development and Family Science. Before coming to Auburn, Liv earned their B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Davis, and completed a dual-enrolled A.S in psychology at North Idaho College. Her research interests include sense of purpose and longitudinal health outcomes in older adulthood, including incident dementia. Liv is particularly interested in examining these processes among minoritized populations and using coordinated data analysis to integrate findings across large datasets. Liv is deeply committed to open science practices, including pre-registration and transparent data sharing. They aspire to become a professor in psychology, human development, or gerontology. In her spare time, Liv enjoys napping, dancing, and baking.
